Solo Automotive Inc
Electric Vehicle (EV) and Sustainable Transportation Industry
Solo Automotive Inc. is a Vancouver-based Canadian company that builds sustainable electric vehicles designed for solo urban travel. Its main innovation, the SOLO EV, is a single-seat, three-wheeled electric vehicle made specifically for navigating city environments. Through this compact solution, Solo aims to simplify daily transportation, lower operating costs, and reduce emissions. The company is also making steady progress in expanding its reach throughout North America and Europe.
Company Foundation
The company was launched with a focus on serving solo urban commuters looking for clean and practical mobility. With about 50 employees and headquarters in Vancouver, Solo Automotive Inc. continues to reflect Canadian values while moving into new international markets. Support from investors has been guided by the shared goal of promoting sustainable urban transportation.
A Vehicle Designed for the Way People Commute
Solo Automotive Inc. offers the SOLO EV as its main product—an electric, three-wheeled vehicle built for one person. Based on data showing that roughly 80% of trips are made by solo drivers, the company chose to create a new type of vehicle rather than shrink existing models.
The SOLO EV is well-suited to the average round-trip commute of 40 miles, which it can cover on a single charge. Features include air conditioning, Bluetooth audio with USB input, an LCD digital instrument cluster, power windows and mirrors, remote keyless entry, a rear-view backup camera, and heated seats. These additions provide a functional and comfortable drive for day-to-day use.
The car includes five cubic feet of storage space, offering enough room for common needs like groceries, equipment, or personal items. With a body size of 122 inches long and 61.4 inches wide, and a curb weight of 1,735 pounds, the vehicle is well-matched to city travel and fits easily in small spaces.
Built for Urban Roads
The SOLO EV reaches a top speed of 80 miles per hour. Its 56-horsepower liquid-cooled synchronous motor powers the rear wheels and delivers 103 foot-pounds of torque. This gives drivers steady and responsive handling in both city and nearby suburban areas.
Its battery is a 144-volt, 17.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion NCA unit with liquid cooling. Charging options offer flexibility: using a 220-volt Level 2 charger, the battery reaches 85% in about 2.5 hours and reaches full charge in 6 hours. On a standard 120-volt outlet, it takes around 12.5 hours to get 85% and 15 hours to charge fully.
Built-In Safety Features
Safety is an important part of the SOLO EV’s design. Standard components include LED headlights, daytime running lights, power disc brakes, and a collapsible steering column. The vehicle also contains triple-reinforced steel side-impact protection, front and rear crumple zones, a steel halo roll bar, and torque-limiting stability control.
Its frame is made from a composite monocoque shell, offering both durability and reduced weight. These combined elements support a safe, daily driving experience in urban conditions.
What the Company Stands For
Solo Automotive Inc. is guided by three key principles: innovation, sustainability, and urban freedom. The SOLO EV produces zero emissions, helping lower the environmental impact of everyday travel. Traditional gas vehicles used for daily commutes can produce over 5,500 pounds of CO₂ annually, a number the SOLO EV helps eliminate.
The vehicle is also more affordable to operate than traditional cars. Electricity costs are generally lower than fuel costs, maintenance is less frequent, and insurance costs may be reduced due to the car’s unique design and classification.
Its size and structure allow for easier navigation through traffic, quicker parking, and better use of limited city space. The SOLO EV helps drivers move through cities without having to adjust their habits to large, conventional cars.
Company Milestones and Expansion
Solo Automotive Inc. has reached several important achievements since its launch. The introduction of the SOLO EV marked a major step, as it was the first commuter-focused, single-seat electric vehicle developed from the ground up.
The vehicle has drawn attention from global media outlets, including CNN, Bloomberg, Forbes, and MotorTrend. These publications recognized the product’s distinctive design and environmental focus.
Sales have spread throughout Canada and the United States. European pilot programs have tested the vehicle in new environments and provided helpful feedback for improving future versions.
In 2025, Solo made it easier for buyers to reserve vehicles by offering a $200 fully refundable deposit. Once a deposit is placed, customers receive full guidance through the purchasing and delivery steps from Solo’s sales and delivery advisors.
